‘Fashion Forever’

B. D. Somani successfully started its ‘alumni program’ that benefits all fraternity; ex-students, present students and faculty that are related to the B. D. Somani academia. The camaraderie that forms this unique chain had also come together to form a group called ‘Fashion Forever’ on Facebook whereby the college could take forward its students and alumnus through inventive vehicles of social media. “FF” is an interactive forum where students and fraternity schmooze about all things etched in fashion.

B. D. Somani launched an Alumni Card at Silhouettes 2010 – the Annual Fashion Awards Nite on 2nd May 2010. The Institute tied up with fashion stores such as Exclusive Brand Outlets & Multibrand Outlets that would be giving away exciting discounts to the Alumni Card holders for exclusive merchandise in their stores.

This time Fashion Forever flutters for a cause. While creating newer fashion each day with their inspired imaginations, this creative bunch is out to give back something to the society, they very much deserve.

With fashion industry growing at a burgeoning speed, there are varied hazards that threaten this rise, primarily wastage of garments, fabrics, unused stock, rejected fabrics, and other materials.

To combat this issue, the Fashion Forever united together for a truly noble gesture that would surely benefit the brethren of the fashion world. The fashion alumnus of B. D. Somani  recycle old clothes contributed by the students and donated it to an NGO, Mumbai.

The very charming Nicole Faria, Miss Earth 2010, who handed over the garments to the foundation, was our honorary guest for the same. They also urged one and all associated with the fashion industry to take a serious note of the urban decay affecting the earth and be part of this good cause.

All the textile wastage would be recycled in to wearable garments and be donated to charitable organizations, making sure every thread is put to good use. Thus making the fashion industry and eco system, which is self – sustainable in its social economic causes and corporate social responsibilities. This gesture reinforced our faith in today’s youth that do believe that fashion can also be created for a cause. With social network gaining coverage each passing day, the
B. D. Somani Fashion Forever Club
too is garnering popularity for its righteous reasons.
